Renew or get a biometric passport
Apply in person at a consulate after an online pre-application. Adults get five years.
Key facts
- Valid 5 years for adults. It cannot be extended, only renewed.
- Issued at any age. Under 12, it is made from the birth certificate. From 12 to 18, the child's fingerprints are taken at the consulate.
- A new generation of passports has been rolling out since August 2026. Your current passport stays valid until the date printed on it.
- A parent can apply for a minor child's passport without the father's prior consent, unless a court has ruled otherwise.
Steps
- Check that your consular registration shows your current address.
- Fill in the pre-application on passeport.ma and print it.
- Book a slot on rdv.consulat.ma. Since 2024 you can choose any Moroccan consulate.
- Go in person with your documents. A minor comes with a parent or legal guardian.
- Keep the receipt. Track the file on passeport.ma, then collect the passport with the receipt. Collection needs no appointment.
What to bring
- Printed pre-application form from passeport.ma
- CNIE, or the receipt of your CNIE application, for adults
- Your previous passport
- For a child: birth certificate and the parent's or guardian's CNIE, original and copy
- Photos and the stamp fee: the exact format and amount are on passeport.ma and at your consulate
Watch out
- Summer is the busy season. Renew in autumn or winter, well before you book tickets.
- Many countries and airlines ask for a passport valid three to six months after your trip.
- Lost or damaged passport: declare it at the consulate when you apply for the new one.
